Dear Pekin Families and Community,
With cold weather just around the corner, here is a summary of the district’s transportation in inclement weather policy and how decisions are made.
Decisions on whether school buses will operate in various inclement weather conditions will be made using the best judgment and information available. Every attempt will be made to consider the safety of our students and staff in making decisions about school delays and cancellations.
We will use information from the latest forecasts and weather conditions, consultations with other schools, county officials, and of course our own school transportation personnel and administrators out in various parts of the district checking road conditions.
Every attempt will be made to communicate a decision by 6:00 AM or earlier via our school alerts messaging system, as well as social media, television and radio stations.
If school is going to be dismissed early due to weather conditions, we will also communicate this via the same outlets mentioned above.
Please make sure you are signed up to receive alerts from your child’s school, and that your contact information is up to date.
