Wednesday, March 2, 2022 was National Read Across America Day. The 6th grade students visited the preschool to read books with them. The 6th graders enjoyed showing off their reading skills, and the preschoolers loved listening to the fluent 6th graders. The 6th graders admitted they missed being in preschool, but they enjoyed reading with their preschool friends so much that we are going back in April to do math with them. Check out our pictures!

ISASP TIME!
ISASP (Iowa Statewide Assessment of Student Progress) will be held March 28-April 1. We encourage fifth graders to eat nutritiously and to get plenty of rest.
Research shows that water is an important ingredient in academic achievement, so we are recommending that fifth graders bring some kind of water container with a lid to have at their desks during the tests. The containers can be filled with ice and water at school. No other beverages should be sent. They may also bring non electronic games to play during break times.
We are also allowing students to chew peppermint gum during the test. Please do not send bubble gum or any other flavor. Peppermint, and the act of chewing, is said to promote brain activity. This may not be the case, but why not give it a try?
*The number one way to improve your test scores is to have a positive attitude about the test.
*Get a good nights sleep before taking the test.
*Avoid worrying about the test. Keep in mind that you won’t know all the answers. Just do your best.
Parents, don’t forget words of encouragement... They are
often most important of all.
