The fourth grade spent last week reading, writing and doing different activities for Earth Day. Yesterday, April 22, was Earth Day. They have learned about how the day was created, the recycling loop, planting trees, eliminating pollution and litter, The Great Pacific Garbage Patch and taking care of our Earth. They are also recycling paper now here in the classroom to help take care of our environment. They finished out the project by making Earth Day puzzle posters and writing their commitment to taking care of our Earth.

K-2 Spring Concert Tonight!

The junior high track meet scheduled for today at Davis County has been rescheduled for tomorrow, Friday April 19th. Junior High track will practice after school today.

Prom is a special night one should always remember. Nothing will spoil that memory more than underage substance use, or worse, impaired driving.
Today, Safer Driver Solutions in partnership with MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) will be presenting MADD's Promposal. This presentation will be assisted by representatives by the Iowa State Patrol, Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, Jefferson County EMS and area fire and first responders.
We believe that all levels of students can benefit from instruction on vehicle safety. This presentation will provide information to our elementary students about how to be safer riders in vehicles.
For our middle school students and high school students, specifically our juniors and seniors ahead of Prom this Saturday, educating them on the dangers of underage substance use and impaired driving and empowering them with alternatives to ensure their prom is a night to always remember.
We want to extend a special thank you to Andy Nelson at Safe Driver Solutions, Shannon Booth at MADD, Jason Marlow, Damien Wimmer, Brandon and the Hedrick fire department along with the many others who make this presentation possible!

This afternoon we made the decision to dismiss 15 minutes early the eastbound bus routes, and hold the westbound routes for the storm to pass. This delay for westbound buses ended up being about 25 minutes. Understandably, memories of last spring's storm was on everyone's mind. Many parents came to pick up their kids throughout the day. Special thanks to our amazing drivers, school staff and students for handling this situation so well and making sure all of our kids made it home safe!

PTO School Carnival tonight from 4-7.

FFA members came and talked to preschool about plants.

Access Energy came to present to third and fourth grade about electrical safety.
